Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features two pieces of news from across the country as Republicans from Maine’s House of Representatives recently released a statement regarding the introduction of legislation to roll back reforms made to the workers’ comp system in 1992 and 2012. According to the GOP, the proposal would require that insurers cover more workers for lesser injuries than are covered currently, leading to “skyrocketing premiums and insurers leaving the state en masse”. Also in the news today, Maine Governor Paul LePage recently announced that the Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Standards has created a new, searchable database of worker injuries using Tableau visualizations that provides a true benchmark in terms of injury numbers and associated costs.
