Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the release of some interesting research from Ameritox which found a correlation between positive marijuana tests and higher rates of potential prescription drug non-adherence among chronic pain medication users. The study was based on over 100,000 samples from patients who were prescribed hydrocodone.
According to the study, in samples that tested positive for marijuana, 36.5% did not have the prescribed hydrocodone present, while for patients who had no illicit drug detected, 29.7% had a negative test for hydrocodone use, which was a statistically significant finding.
