IAIABC Welcomes New Executive Committee Member

April 8, 2013 - WorkCompWire

Madison, WI – The IAIABC is proud to welcome Matthew Carey of the Rhode Island Division of Workers’ Compensation as the newest member of the Executive Committee.

Mr. Carey has been with the Rhode Island Department of Labor since 1986. He has served in various roles at the Department of Labor and Division of Workers’ Compensation, including Hearing Officer, Self Insurance Hearing Officer, and Assistant Director. He is currently the Chief Administrator of Rehabilitation and Education Units with the Division of Workers’ Compensation.

He has been an active member of the IAIABC and provided substantial support in the planning and successful execution of the IAIABC 98th Annual Convention in Newport, RI, in October 2012. Mr. Carey has also served on the IAIABC Constitution and Bylaws Committee since 2008, and is the Committee’s current Chair.

The IAIABC Executive Committee is comprised of ten administrators and senior-level directors of jurisdictional workers’ compensation agencies, as well as one IAIABC associate member, who serves as an ex-officio member and is the elected Chair of the Associate Member Council. The Executive Committee is charged with governance of the IAIABC.

Mr. Carey replaces Richard Thompson, former Chairman of the Georgia State Board of Workers’ Compensation, who left the Georgia State Board to return to private practice.
