Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the recent announcement from Pennsylvania Insurance Commissioner Mike Consedine that a workers’ compen rate reduction of 4.01 percent will go into effect next week on the first. The rate cut could result in a projected overall premium reduction of up to $110 million for Pennsylvania employers. Labor & Industry Secretary Julia Hearthway noted that with more than 10,000 state-certified workplace safety committees having been established, Pennsylvania employers are able to reap the benefits of providing safer workplaces. Also in the news today is an update from the California DWC that their lien filing fee payment system has been updated so that JET Filers can pay the required filing fee and file their liens in one integrated process. The DWC noted that JET Filers who filed liens requiring fees between Jan. 1 and March 2, 2013 but did not pay the fee are reminded that liens that are filed or lodged prior to payment of the required fee are deemed invalid.
