Sarasota, FL – Workers’ Compensation Reinsurance Association (WCRA), headquartered in St. Paul, MN, and Tropics Software Technologies (Tropics), a national software company specializing in workers’ compensation software systems, announced last month that WCRA had selected Tropics to create their new reinsurance systems. Tropics will use its latest generation of workers’ compensation processing software, Tropics Breeze, as a base to create a specialized reinsurance system, including actuarial processes, to be used by WCRA. Tropics will also add this system to its product line for sale to other workers’ compensation excess carriers.
WCRA is the exclusive workers’ compensation reinsurance provider for insurers and self-insurers in the state of Minnesota. The Tropics modern .NET and web-based Breeze system will fully integrate with WCRA’s website functions to maintain a familiar environment for their members to report claims and exposure data through the existing online portals. The new system will enable the WCRA to enhance member services, provide greater processing efficiencies now and in the future, and provide tools for better data analysis.
Carl Cummins, WCRA President and CEO stated, “As we conducted our due diligence, we were increasingly impressed with Tropics’ Breeze product, the processes they use and their people. We look forward to working with them to develop their new reinsurance product.”
“I am very happy to know that we have found a perfect partner for this mission,” said Mike Mobar, President and CEO of Tropics Software Technologies. He added that, “During the due diligence process, I came to appreciate the depth of industry knowledge within the WCRA organization. The fact that this knowledge is imbedded in a group of friendly and thoughtful people makes this venture even more attractive for Tropics. I am confident that as a result of this partnership, WCRA will come away with a great system with which it will thrive and Tropics will have a great system to offer to the market. Additionally, a great bond, which has already been established between the two companies, will grow and become stronger”.
