Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services’s release of the final version of their 2012 Workers’ Compensation Premium Rate Ranking Study. According to the study, Oregon employers pay, on average, the 39th highest workers’ comp premium rates in the nation.
Other key findings included a national median rate index of $1.88 per $100 of payroll for 2012, which is currently at its lowest since the inception of the report, having peaked in 1994 at $4.35. North Dakota and Alaska took the lowest and highest placements respectively, and DCBS also noted that since 2004, the range between the highest and lowest-cost states has been narrowing.
