Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the release of a statement from the IAIABC’s Executive Committee regarding their continuing concern about the inappropriate use of opioids in workers’ compensation. The release follows recent posts by Joe Paduda, Michael Gavin and Bob Wilson on how the Executive Committee had decided not to adopt model legislation and regulation on opioid use, claiming that it “could be interpreted as too narrow and restrictive for jurisdictions.”
According to the IAIABC, since the model legislation does contain valuable information, they will ask that it be be re-framed to offer policy considerations rather than a single policy response.
