Today’s edition of WorkCompRecap features the release of a new case study brief from myMatrixx, which reviews a clinical intervention with a catastrophic case including multiple opioids that over a course of 23 years progressed from a treatment plan addressing a lower back strain injury to managing chronic pain syndrome.
Opioids were the primary course of treatment for this patient, with a total of eight medications (Actiq included, which attributed to 80% of monthly costs alone) totaling a daily morphine equivalent dose (MED) of about 1331 mg, 13 times the recommended limit. As a result of their intervention, myMatrixx was able to create savings of over $250,000 per year for this single claimant
