Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the release of a new research report from CWCI that found that compounded drugs accounted for a declining share of California workers’ compensation prescriptions last year after reforms intended to contain the use and costs of the drugs and changes in how they are billed took effect.
Unfortunately, the report also notes that the average amount paid for a compounded prescription jumped 68 percent, resulting in compound drug reimbursements actually increasing the proportion of the workers’ comp prescription cost they account for.
