Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the release of the 13th Edition of WCRI’s CompScope Medical Benchmarks studies, which examine the cost drivers of medical care in 16 states’ workers’ comp systems, as well as the impact of legislative and regulatory changes on medical costs and trends in payments, prices and utilization of medical care for injured workers.
Key findings include stabilization of payments for hospital outpatient services in North Carolina following 2009 reforms, slowing growth in payments for medical care in Pennsylvania, and a baseline reading for tracking California’s 2012 regulatory changes, which are expected to affect both price and utilization of medical care by most types of providers.
