Tumwater, WA – The Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) has selected Consilience Software to develop a computer system that will track health care delivery for injured workers. This Occupational Health Management System (OHMS) will be used by L&I’s Centers of Occupational Health and Education and other programs. The first phase of the multi-million dollar project will be completed in mid-2013.
L&I selected Consilience based on its successful history of supporting government and private sector case management clients around the country as well as internationally. L&I used a competitive process to select Consilience for the 24-month contract.
Completing the OHMS will be a major step in L&I’s multi-year plan to improve health care for injured workers. The new system will track health care providers’ use of best practices in treating injured workers. Providers using best practices will be eligible for financial and non-financial incentives, such as streamlined authorizations.
Improving health care for injured workers is part of major reforms to workers’ compensation enacted by the 2011 Legislature. The health care reforms will help workers return sooner to good health and their jobs and are expected to save more than $200 million over the first four years.
