Austin, TX – Gov. Rick Perry has reappointed Rod Bordelon Jr. of Austin as commissioner of Workers’ Compensation at the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2015. TDI’s Division of Workers’ Compensation regulates the workers’ compensation system in Texas, ensuring that injured workers receive the necessary benefits in order to return to work quickly, and that workers’ compensation costs are kept at a reasonable level for Texas employers.
Bordelon has served as commissioner of Workers’ Compensation at TDI since his appointment in September 2008. He is former public counsel for the Office of Public Insurance Counsel. He is a board member of the Texas Workers’ Compensation Self Insurer Guaranty Association, and a member of the State Bar of Texas and American and Austin Bar associations. He is also a board member and past president of the Crystal Mountain Homeowner’s Association, and a past member of the Texas Health Care Information Council and Texas Workers’ Compensation Insurance Facility governing committees, and Interstate Insurance Product Regulation Commission Advisory Committee.
Bordelon received a bachelor’s degree from The University of Texas at Austin and a law degree from South Texas College of Law.
