Westerville, OH – Brian Allen, vice president of government affairs at Progressive Medical, Inc. has been elected to the board of directors of the American Association of Preferred Provider Organizations (AAPPO). His appointment was confirmed at the association’s annual conference in Florida Jan. 27.
Allen was recruited by AAPPO for his expertise in workers’ compensation public policy as the organization looks to broaden its reach into that industry and the managed care arena. He will be instrumental in helping the organization learn and convey the differences of these two segments of health care to policy makers, as well as work to harmonize legislative efforts between medical and pharmacy providers.
“AAPPO has an active public policy effort in various states,” Allen said. “Together, we can leverage the government relations assets of both of our organizations to elevate our abilities to educate and influence the policy direction of our industries.”
A former Utah legislator and respected lobbyist, Allen oversees the company’s efforts to assist clients with navigating legislative and regulatory issues and building effective strategies to comply with policy that impacts them. He has an extensive history of legislative and executive branch assignments in insurance, workers’ compensation, technology, and municipal and local government, and has provided strategic advice, educated policymakers, authored legislation and given expert testimony.
Allen has a bachelor of science in business management from Western Governors University, an online educational institution for working adults that he helped to found, and is a certified insurance counselor. In his home state of Utah, he is active on a number of boards for causes spanning the community, the arts and education.
