MT Man Pleads Guilty to Employer Workers’ Compensation Fraud

February 10, 2013 - WorkCompWire

Helena, MT – Montana State Fund’s (MSF) Special Investigations Unit recently announced that Wayne Blomquist of Billings recently pleaded guilty to employer misconduct, which is a felony.

The Special Investigations Unit was made aware that Blomquist, the owner of 4M Construction, failed to accurately report and classify payroll information to MSF.

This type of workers’ compensation employer misconduct is illegal because the employer knowingly reports less payroll to save paying the full amount of workers’ compensation premium he owes. Employer misconduct gives the employer an unfair advantage over employers who follow the law.

The Montana Attorney General’s Office filed employer misconduct against Blomquist and the court ordered him to pay $7,454.22 in restitution to MSF with a two year prison sentence suspended.

Since the program’s inception in 1993, MSF has recovered over $54 million from fraudulent claims. Montana State Fund insures over 26,000 employers in Montana.
