San Francisco, CA -(BusinessWire)- State Compensation Insurance Fund recently announced the appointment of Beatriz Sanchez as its Chief Operating Officer (COO). State Fund’s Board of Directors confirmed Sanchez’s appointment at its first meeting this year.
As COO, Beatriz will continue to provide leadership and oversight to ensure that all claims operations meet performance and strategic goals and are in compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements. Her responsibilities include the design and implementation of State Fund’s strategy for effectively supporting workers’ compensation reform (SB 863), as well as identifying other opportunities for State Fund to constructively influence the California workers’ compensation system.
Sanchez joined State Fund in 1987 as a claims adjuster. 1992 marked the first of many management level promotions that tapped her increasing claims expertise, team building skills, and development of innovative programs such as employer seminars, and a unit of highly effective vocational rehabilitation counselors.
In 2008, she was appointed as Senior Vice President of Southern Claims Operations, in charge of regional operations in Los Angeles/Tri-County, Inland Empire/San Diego, and Orange County, before promoting to Executive Vice President of Claims in 2010.
Sanchez earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management from the University of La Verne in Southern California.
Tom Rowe, President and CEO of State Fund said of Sanchez, “Beatriz has excelled at every leadership challenge she has faced over the 2 1/2 years I’ve had the opportunity to work with her. She not only solves problems, she has the ability to anticipate them, and respond in advance. Best in breed claims operations are led by capable individuals who are themselves claims experts who really understand claims operations top to bottom. State Fund’s claims operation is fortunate to be led by such an individual.”
