CA WCIRB Spotlight Focuses on 2013 Experience Rating Plan

January 24, 2013 - WorkCompWire

San Francisco, CA – The WCIRB has released a new Spotlight story to its homepage highlighting the changes to the experience rating values contained in the California Workers’ Compensation Experience Rating Plan – 1995 (Experience Rating Plan) effective January 1, 2013. The Spotlight article is in response to questions received by the WCIRB Customer Service department from policyholders, agents, brokers and others regarding the impact on experience modifications from changes to the Experience Rating Plan’s credibility values.

Credibility values are used in the experience rating formula to reflect the weight given to an employer’s past claims experience as a predictor of future claims. The WCIRB routinely reviews all Experience Rating Plan values and proposes periodic changes to ensure that the experience rating system remains in balance and operates effectively. The last change to credibility values was made in 2010.

To learn more about credibilities and the 2013 Experience Rating Plan values, see the Spotlight article here: CA WCIRB Spotlight: Experience Rating Plan Values Updated for 2013
