Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the release of results from TDI-DWC’s fourth Insurance Carrier Performance Based Oversight assessment. A total of 110 insurance carriers were evaluated on the timeliness of elements like medical bill processing, payment of the initial Temporary Income Benefits (TIBs) check, reporting medical billing data, and reporting initial payment of TIBs to the TDI-DWC.
Based on the PBO assessment, insurance carriers are placed into regulatory tiers: poor, average, and consistently high performers. In this installment, 56 carriers were deemed as high performers, 53 were deemed average, and one carrier was deemed as a poor performer. TDI-DWC focuses regulatory oversight on the poor performers, but also offers incentives within each tier that promote greater overall compliance and performance.
