San Francisco, CA – At its December 12, 2012 meeting, the WCIRB Governing Committee promoted Dave Bellusci to the newly-created position of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. He will report to WCIRB President and Chief Executive Officer Bill Mudge.
In making the announcement to WCIRB staff, Mr. Mudge commented, “I congratulate Dave on this well-deserved promotion—his leadership and his dedication to the WCIRB’s mission over the years have made a big impact on the California workers’ compensation community. He is a great member of the WCIRB’s executive leadership team.”
Mr. Bellusci will continue to serve as the WCIRB’s Chief Actuary and will retain responsibility for all actuarial and ratemaking functions. In addition, he is now responsible for the WCIRB’s core operational functions including experience rating; unit statistical, policy and medical data reporting; and financial accounting.
Mr. Bellusci joined the WCIRB in 1989, after serving as a consultant with a large international business consulting firm assisting a number of insurance companies, private self-insured businesses, and government entities in a variety of actuarial and risk financing projects. He also has more than seven years of experience with two multi-line insurance companies with whom he was involved in a variety of roles involving ratemaking, loss reserving, and financial forecasting.
Mr. Bellusci is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuary Society and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. He is widely respected within the California workers’ compensation community and regularly represents the WCIRB at legislative or administrative hearings. He is also a frequent speaker on California workers’ compensation related issues.
