Oakland, CA – Senate Bill 863, which creates wide-ranging changes to the workers’ compensation system, includes alterations to the physician fee schedule. The Department of Industrial Relations’ (DIR) Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) is seeking public input as it moves forward with adjusting the physician fee schedule and has scheduled a meeting Wednesday, Nov. 14 to discuss issues relating to adoption of a Resource Based Relative Value Scale-based physician fee schedule (RBRVS).
Senate Bill 863 provides that the Official Medical Fee Schedule (OMFS) shall include payment ground rules that differ from Medicare payment ground rules, including, as appropriate, payment of consultation codes and payment evaluation and management services provided during a global period of surgery.
“Within the general framework established by the statute, we are particularly interested in obtaining input on any workers’ compensation-specific issues that may require deviating from Medicare payment ground rules,” said DIR Director Christine Baker.
The Nov. 14 meeting will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Room 2 at the Elihu Harris State Building, 1515 Clay Street, Oakland.
