Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features some results from Health Strategy Associates’ 2012 survey of Workers’ Comp Utilization Management/Review. Perhaps the largest finding from the survey, (which covered two distinct groups: executives, and front-line staff, was the prominent gap between the perceptions of execs and claims managers when it came to their impressions of integration of UM/UR with other medical management systems.

Also in the news today is WCRI, who recently announced the dates for their Annual Issues & Research Conference. The conference will be held near the end of February and promises to be “stimulating and provocative”, with speakers drawn from diverse perspectives within the Workers’ Comp community as well as nationally known speakers. Topics are set to range from abuse and diversion of opioids to national healthcare reform and its effects.
