Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features some more research from WCRI with the release of a new edition of their CompScope Medical Benchmarks series. Massachusetts is under examination in this edition, where costs per Workers’ Comp claim decreased six percent in 2010, the largest decline among all the states reviewed. According to WCRI, the decrease in total costs per claim partially reflects the state’s recovery from the Great Recession, as total costs per claim rose 10 percent per year on average during the recession period of 2007 to 2009. Also in the news today is PMSI, who recently announced an enhancement to their clinical intervention services called Nurse Progress Monitoring, which provides active monitoring and evaluation of specific cases to assist with implementation of medication therapy changes that have resulted from Peer-to-Peer collaborative processes.
