Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features some interesting commentary from Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner John Doak, who recently called for the legislature to address what he called “Oklahoma’s biggest economic issue”: workers’ compensation reform.
Doak made his comments after approving NCCI’s recent loss-cost filing, which called for an 0.4 percent increase. The Commissioner pointed out Oklahoma’s average cost for permanent partial indemnity, which is almost double the regional average, and noted that the system has some companies reevaluating whether or not to remain in the state.
