CA WCIRB Actuarial Committee to Continue Evaluation of SB 863

September 19, 2012 - WorkCompWire

San Francisco, CA – A joint meeting of the WCIRB Actuarial Committee and the Claims Working Group has been set for September 21, 2012 in San Francisco. The Committee and Working Group will continue their evaluation of the cost impact of Senate Bill No. 863 (SB 863) and will focus specifically on those provisions of the Bill pertaining to independent medical review, the elimination of the future earnings capacity factor for permanent disability ratings, and medical provider networks.

At the conclusion of the meeting, it is expected that the Actuarial Committee will finalize a recommendation to the WCIRB Governing Committee with respect to an amended January 1, 2013 Pure Premium Rate Filing. The agenda for the meeting, including time and location, is available on the Actuarial Committee page of the WCIRB website.

The Governing Committee will meet on September 26, 2012 to consider the Actuarial Committee’s recommendation. The agenda for the Governing Committee meeting will be released approximately one week prior to the meeting.

The California Department of Insurance public hearing that was originally scheduled for September 24, 2012 will be rescheduled pending receipt of the WCIRB’s amended January 1, 2013 Pure Premium Rate Filing. The WCIRB will issue a WCIRB Wire story once a new hearing data has been announced.
