Today’s edition of WorkCompRecap features the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM)’s announcement that they have integrated the US FDA’s National Drug Code (NDC) data into APG-I, their online Occupational Medicine Practice Guidelines database.
The College’s evidence-based recommendations for treatment of injured workers differentiate the appropriateness of interventions by time of expected recovery, which can be crucial when riskier medications like opioids are involved, where longer term use requires much more selectivity. The new functionality is expected to provide adjusters with a more complete review of treatment and medication recommendations.
