Los Angeles, CA -(BusinessWire)- Fidelis Diagnostics, Inc., a rapidly growing healthcare company providing innovative diagnostic services nationally, announces it has entered the workers compensation market with its turnkey testing solutions. Electrodiagnostic (EDX) testing, in home Sleep Studies and the Exalenz BreathID® System for Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) testing, are now being provided to physicians treating injured workers, urgent care centers, occupational clinics, as well as worker’s comp administrators, claims adjustors and self-insured organizations on the west coast.
“With an increased demand for accurate, cost-effective and convenient diagnostic testing solutions for workers compensation, Fidelis Diagnostics is well-positioned to offer the highest quality and most advanced testing services available – the gold standard – which enable everyone treating work injuries to make an accurate diagnosis more quickly and reliably,” said Flynn Wilson, CEO of Fidelis Diagnostics, Inc. “Our expansion into the workers compensation market further demonstrates our corporate commitment to strategically grow our portfolio of value-added services for the benefit of our medical provider networks, physicians and their patients.”
Electrodiagnostic testing for injured workers includes electromyography (EMG), a technique for evaluating and recording the electrical activity produced by skeletal muscles and a Nerve Conduction Velocity test (NCV), which determines the adequacy of the conduction of the nerve impulse and can detect signs of nerve injury. Both of these tests provide an objective assessment of spinal nerve root, peripheral nerve, and skeletal muscle function in patients with sensory complaints of pain, tingling numbness or burning of the extremities, muscle weakness, and neurological findings and can be easily done in the physician’s office.
Sleep disorders, including Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), which affects nearly 23 million working Americans, can have hazardous effects on health and quality of life – ranging from high blood pressure and other cardiovascular disorders to cognitive weakening, headaches, degradation of social and work-related activities, and increased risk of car and work-related accidents. Shift workers, including truck drivers, bus drivers, police officers and fire personnel, are most likely to suffer from sleep disorders and should be tested.
It is estimated that less than 25 percent of OSA sufferers have been diagnosed and now Fidelis Diagnostics offers a much easier and more convenient way to diagnose sleep apnea through the use of WatchPAT, an innovative, clinically proven, tamper proof, FDA-approved in home sleep study device providing accurate detection of sleep apnea. Used in the comfort of the patient’s own bedroom (an environment that best reflects the usual sleep habits), it provides more reliable and precise results than those obtained in traditional sleep labs.
With the Exalenz BreathID® System, Fidelis offers an in-office testing solution using a dedicated breathing device that is located in the physician’s office. This way, H. pylori testing can be done on the spot with results received in about 10 minutes. The BreathID® System is a non-radioactive breath test platform capable of analyzing parts-per-million changes in carbon 13 and carbon 12 ratios in a patient’s breath for the detection of H. pylori infection.
To meet the diagnostic needs of those treating work injuries, Fidelis Diagnostics continues to seek innovative solutions that deliver the highest quality objective diagnostics, improve the health of patients, while reducing overall healthcare costs.
