San Francisco, CA – The WCIRB has updated its preliminary evaluation of Senate Bill No. 863 (SB 863) which is currently under consideration in the California Legislature. The updated evaluation reflects amendments made to the bill on August 27, 2012, which included the elimination of the provision to pay permanent disability benefits at the temporary disability rate.
The WCIRB will continue to monitor the status of SB 863 and, if reform legislation is enacted by the close of the current legislative session, the WCIRB will hold a joint meeting of the WCIRB Actuarial Committee and Claims Working Group on September 5, 2012. Subsequent to this meeting, the WCIRB will provide a full evaluation of the legislation, along with any recommended amendments to its proposed January 1, 2013 advisory pure premium rates, in advance of the public hearing regarding the January 1, 2013 Pure Premium Rate Filing.
