Today’s edition of WorkCompRecap features some interesting results coming out of a recent Small Business Opinion Poll commissioned by EMPLOYERS which found that 73 percent of small businesses report they have little or no knowledge of how Self-Insured Groups (SIGs) work.
Perhaps most interestingly, lack of knowledge was not limited to the general survey population – almost 40 percent of small businesses who are currently or were part of a SIG incorrectly believe SIG members are not financially responsible for the workers’ comp claims of each of the other companies in their SIG, not just their own businesses.
