Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features a new report coming from the National Business Coalition on Health on the effects of Obesity in the Workplace, specifically seeking to better understand the business attitudes and needs concerning obesity prevention and control to identify how best to combat the issue. The study found that while many U.S. employers are addressing obesity, there is still much progress to be made and a need for tools and resources, especially among small and mid-size organizations.
Readers may recall that we recently featured a report from NCCI on the effect that obesity is having on workers’ compensation, and one of the key findings from the NBCH’s survey was that making the connection between safety and wellness is fundamental, with employers consistently mentioning the significance of the safety function related to obesity.
