Tracy, CA – To more effectively combat the ever increasing medical costs, especially drug costs, and the current lien crisis, Republic Indemnity has contracted with Networks by Design (NBD) for its MPN. This will offer the additional benefit of easier access to physicians willing to accept new WC patients and with expertise in industrial medicine.
“We have become painfully aware that it could take the state and its various agencies a lengthy period of time to address increasing medical costs, the current lien debacle, opioid crisis and the other drug cost issues that negatively impact the entire system,” said Dave Mitchell, Senior VP of Claims at Republic. “NBD provider contract provisions substantially contain the explosion of these expenses.”
Kimberly Riddle, Network Development Principal at NBD is impressed with the sophisticated approach of Republic. “This insurer is clearly on the cutting edge, realizing the benefits of a focused network, accurate data and that major costs can be quickly contained with Workers’ Compensation focused provider agreements.”
Mitchell added that recent DWC hearings underscored the frustration of many injured workers in finding an appropriate treating physician within an MPN. NBD addresses the problem with a distinct WC network, and the directory is kept current.
Frank Lewis, Marketing and Sales Principal at NBD emphasized that Networks by Design is a new California PPO, created in response to the requests of payers and providers alike—desiring to work with an organization that understands the state, maintains data and provides excellent service.
