Also on the drug front today is the TDI-DWC, who after receiving feedback from workers’ comp system participants have released a revised version of their proposed Health Care Providers Pain Management (Opioid) Plan-Based Audit, which seeks to audit opioid utilization in the Texas workers’ comp system. The audit will focus on opioid prescribing patterns of providers that are inconsistent with treatment recommendations outlined in TDI-DWC’s adopted treatment guidelines (WLDI’s ODG), and a Medical Quality Review Panel will assess the necessity and appropriateness of prescribing opioids in cases selected.
