Also in the news today is Maryland’s largest writer of workers’ comp, IWIF, which due to recently signed legislation will be converted to Chesapeake Employers’ Insurance Company, effective October 1, 2013. Chesapeake will be a private, non-profit Maryland corporation and will continue to provide workers’ comp to Maryland employers. Additional legislation also authorized a $50 million transfer from IWIF’s surplus, which the state will no longer maintain any claim on after the conversion. Find out more by clicking here!
