Today’s edition of WorkCompRecap features some reform news, as previously featured SB 572 from Missouri was recently announced as vetoed by Governor Jay Nixon. The bill aimed to make/return occupational disease to being exclusively covered under Missouri’s Workers’ Compensation System, and also stated that all administrative remedies must be exhausted before civil actions can move forward.

Also in the news today is a bill recently passed unanimously by both houses of the Colorado Legislature, HB 1033. The Property Casualty Insurers Association of America (PCI) has voiced their support and are urging Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper to sign the measure. HB 1033 gives the DWC discretion in whether or not to assess fines in an audit if a carrier did not have notice of an injury in time to meet Colorado’s 10-day reporting deadline.
