Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features some acquisition news as Managing General Agency K2 Insurance Services recently announced that they have acquired a majority stake in Midwestern Insurance Alliance, a Louisville based MGA focused on worker’s compensation for the transportation industry. With the added capital, Midwestern plans to expand its territory to 17 states, including Texas and California, which according to K2 are currently underserved markets for workers’ comp for trucking firms.

Also in the news today is the Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services, which recently released its 2010 Occupational Injury and Illness Survey Tables and Appendices, summarizing the results of the annual Occupational Injury and Illness survey conducted by DCBS in cooperation with the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
