Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the recent launch of a new “Score Card” series from the California Workers’ Compensation Institute (CWCI). The new series of reports uses subsets of data from CWCI’s Industry Claims database to measure various aspects of claims experience for injuries within 10 common diagnostic categories.
The series starts off with a Score Card focusing on claims involving Medical Back Problems without Spinal Cord Involvement – aka “medical back claims” that mainly include back strains and sprains. Of note was that these claims account for more than a quarter of total workers’ compensation paid losses in California, and about 1 in 6 work injury claims.
