Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features a recent release from the Michigan Workers’ Compensation Agency on recent changes to its alternate dispute resolution policy. In order to implement recent statutory changes, their staff will be assigning multiple types of contested workers’ compensation claims to mediation, including unrepresented claimants and medical-only claims.
The Agency says that a recent increase in the effort of Magistrates to mediate cases prior to trial has been part of a concerted effort, with the anticipation that it will both decrease the number and the age of pending cases.
