The Department of Labor and Workforce Development and Alaska Workers’ Compensation Board propose to adopt regulation changes in Title 8, Chapter 45 of the Alaska Administrative Code, dealing with Proceedings before the Alaska Workers’ Compensation Board and payment for medical fees and services, including the following:
- 8 AAC 45.071 is proposed to add a section to establish standards and procedures for a commissioner’s designee to hear and decide matters without a panel.
- 8 AAC 45.074(b) is proposed to be changed to establish standards and procedures for a continuance or cancellation.
- 8 AAC 45.082(d) is proposed to be changed to clarify procedures for employer payment of medical bills and reimbursement of prescription charges and travel expenses.
The public may comment on the proposed regulation changes, including the potential costs to private persons of complying with the proposed changes, by submitting written comments to Michael Monagle, Division of Workers’ Compensation, P.O. Box 115512, Juneau, AK 99811-5512, or by electronic mail at firstname.lastname@example.org or by facsimile at 907-465-2797. The comments must be received no later than 4:00 p.m. on December 16, 2011.
Oral or written comments also may be submitted at a hearing to be held on December 16, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. and might be extended to accommodate those present before 12:00 p.m. who did not have the opportunity to comment at the following location:

After the public comment period ends, the Alaska Workers’ Compensation Board, during a public meeting, and the Department of Labor and Workforce Development will either adopt these or other provisions dealing with the same subject, without further notice, or decide to take no action on them.
