Los Angeles, CA – Effective Health Systems and The Reed Group announced an agreement to integrate the ACOEM and MTUS guidelines into the BaseLine Workers Compensation Medical Management Platform. The ACOEM and MTUS guidelines will become available to users of BaseLine’s UR management and auto-authorization applications.
James Schlueter, Effective Health Systems’ President stated, “The consummation of our agreement with the Reed Group and ACOEM completes BaseLine’s medical protocol resource. Earlier this year we integrated the ODG guidelines in BaseLine. With this agreement, BaseLine delivers a single-source medical protocol technology for workers compensation medical management. Effective Health Systems’ BaseLine is now truly national in scope, covering virtually every workers compensation jurisdiction in the country.”
Schlueter said, “BaseLine’s Medical Management Platform includes a Utilization Review (UR) Assistant that engages a digital crosswalk that is able to instantly target medical requests that are medically efficacious and reasonable. BaseLine instantly certifies and handles all communication and audit requirements for targeted requests. For those that need a higher-level review, the system immediately identifies the payer’s preferred vendor and electronically submits the request directly into that vendor’s technology. Our website (www.effectivehealthsystems.com) identifies a number of our current medical management partners that can instantly receive referrals through BaseLine.”
Reed Group President Jon Seymour, M.D. said, “The key to rapid and successful adoption of state guidelines is to make it easy to incorporate them into everyone’s daily workflow. Our partnership with Effective Health Systems is significant in that it puts our guidelines in the hands of hundreds of claims and medical managers in the simple and easy to use technology known as BaseLine. We are most impressed with the innovations Effective Health Systems are bringing to market that further extend the access to the ACOEM guidelines to an ever increasing market.”
“Effective Health Systems’ UR Assistant allows workers compensation payers and medical management companies to expedite the processing of the requests at a fraction of the cost of traditional UR. Today, BaseLine is processing tens of thousands of UR requests each month.” according to Effective Health Systems’ Schlueter.
Effective Health Systems’ COO, Gregg Bernhard said, “The UR Assistant is saving millions of dollars for insurance payers by reducing operating costs associated with UR as well as cutting thousands of unnecessary disability days created by the delays associated with the traditional UR methodology that is task and paper-intensive.”
