Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features another product rollout, as Total Medical Solutions announces its new “hyper-communicative” MUNI product for municipalities, law enforcement and other government agencies. According to TMS, municipalities expect more frequent and detailed communication much faster than other workers’ compensation payers, citing the long-term nature of municipal employees, which results in closer, more personal relationships with adjusters and risk managers.

Also in the news is the recent release of CDC-NIOSH’s First Periodic Review of Scientific and Medical Evidence Related to Cancer for the World Trade Center (WTC) Health Program. The first review concluded that while a determination cannot be made to propose a rule to add cancer, or a type of cancer, to the List of WTC-Related Health Conditions, it does not necessarily mean that a causal link does not exist.
