Today’s edition of WorkCompRecap features more great stuff from the new report recently released by the Workers’ Compensation Research Institute (WCRI). The report compares the cost, price, and utilization of prescription drugs in 17 states (we covered Louisiana last week). In this go-round, Texas is highlighted for having prescription costs per claim with prescriptions that were 44% higher than the 17-state median.
WCRI points to the fact that injured workers received 30% more pills, and a greater percentage of brand names vs. generics. The report also points out strategies underway to address issues in Texas, including the closed formulary, slated to take effect later this year.
