WorkCompRecap: New Drug Cost Report!

Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features a new report recently released by the Workers’ Compensation Research Institute (WCRI) on major reasons for the higher and growing prescription costs in Florida’s workers’ compensation system. In their new report, Prescription Benchmarks for Florida, 2nd Edition, they present the finding that the average payment per claim for prescription drugs in Florida’s workers’ compensation system was 45 percent higher than the median of states studied, largely due to more frequent and higher-priced physician dispensing.

Also in the news today is Paladin Managed Care Services’ announcement of the nationwide launch of its new Field Case Management service, aimed at self-insured employers, public entities, insurance companies, group health, and TPAs. The new service offering is the latest addition to the company’s ongoing efforts to broaden its suite of managed care services.
