RIMS Approved as Accredited Standards Organization by ANSI

July 17, 2011 - WorkCompWire

NEW YORK — RIMS has announced that it has been approved as an accredited standards development organization by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Executive Standards Council. This status will increase RIMS’ profile in the standards and practices arena by enabling it to take a lead role in shaping and developing risk management standards. RIMS aims to begin standards development in early 2012.

“Developing and distributing standards is vital to ensuring consistently high levels of practice in organizations worldwide, and has been top of mind for RIMS’ since we formed our Standards and Practices Committee in 2009,” says Lori Seidenberg, RIMS board member and vice president, enterprise risk management, Centerline Capital Group. “This approval, in conjunction with the efforts of our membership, will undoubtedly serve to foster a culture of risk management across sectors.”

ANSI enhances the competitiveness of U.S. business by overseeing the creation and use of norms and guidelines that directly impact businesses in nearly every sector.
