SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the appointment of Rosa Moran, 50, of Oakland, to administrative director of the Division of Workers’ Compensation. Moran has served as a workers’ compensation judge since 2005. Previously, she was an attorney in private practice from 1988 to 2005. Moran is a member of the Oakland Bench and Bar Association, the Filipina Women’s Network, the University of San Francisco Alumni Association, and the University of the Pacific Alumni Association. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $132,179. Moran is a Democrat.
The Association of California Insurance Companies also issued the following statement in response to the appointment:
“We congratulate Ms. Moran and look forward to working with her in this important role. California’s workers compensation system is at a crossroads right now, system costs are increasing again and despite the reforms; the system is beginning to return to its previous unpredictable ways. We would like to assist the new administrative director to find ways to balance the need to control costs and maintain a predictable and stable system with the needs to provide injured workers with quality and timely medical care and benefits.”
