Accident Fund Holdings, Inc. Names Jenkins General Counsel

July 18, 2011 - WorkCompWire

LANSING, Mich. /PRNewswire/ — Accident Fund Holdings, Inc. announces the appointment of Sue Jenkins, of Williamston, Mich., as general counsel. Jenkins is replacing Steven Hess, current general counsel, who is retiring on September 1, 2011.

In this role, Jenkins will be responsible for representing the enterprise with respect to all non-claim legal or regulatory actions. She will provide advice and counsel regarding all legal matters impacting the enterprise, including those both directly and indirectly involved in the normal business of the corporation and the normal operations of its business units, as well as being responsible for the oversight of enterprise contracting.

“Jenkins brings 16 years of experience and expertise in the legal profession, 10 of which are in the insurance industry, making her a great fit for this role,” Liz Haar, president and CEO of Accident Fund Holdings, said. “I am excited to have her join our team.”

She has worked for BCBSM for the past 10 years in a variety of capacities, most recently as principal counsel for the Government Programs Practice Group, and prior to that as senior attorney/Medicaid compliance officer for Blue Care Network/BlueCaid, and assistant general counsel for the Litigation Division. Prior to joining BCBSM, Jenkins worked as an attorney for R. Bruce Carruthers & Associates, P.C.; Project Advantage Group, Inc.; the Florida Department of Labor and Employment Security; and the Florida House of Representatives Committee on Judiciary.

Jenkins earned a Bachelor of Science degree in speech communication and Juris Doctor degree from Florida State University.
