Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features another bill being signed into law. While not as controversial as the one from Illinois, House Bill 440 from Pennsylvania, signed into law by Governor Tom Corbett authorizes insurers, including the State Workers’ Insurance Fund, or SWIF, to voluntarily provide workers’ compensation coverage to sole proprietors, partners in partnerships and members of limited liability companies.

Also in the news today is a new piece of business for Paradox Technology Solutions, which just landed Patriot National Insurance Group as a client for their WorkCompExpert product, and another acquisition for Sedgwick CMS, which announced its completion of the purchase of Nationwide Better Health’s Productivity Solutions division.
