Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features some bill-blocking commentary coming from the Association of California Insurance Companies (ACIC). The bill in focus is AB 228 (Fuentes), which would give SCIF the authority to provide workers’ compensation policies to its California-based clients that cover the client’s out-of-state employees.
In a recent statement, ACIC president Mark Sektnan claimed that it was not “the simple “business-friendly” measure that SCIF is portraying it to be”. Of note as well is that the release mentions SCIF’s federal tax exemption, alongside the mention that “private insurers pay billions in federal income tax”.
