KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. – MedRisk, Inc., the workers’ compensation industry leader in specialty managed care services, announced it has completed an examination in accordance with Statement on Auditing Standards (SAS) No. 70, Service Organizations. The review was performed by an independent auditing firm.
Established by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), SAS 70 is a widely recognized auditing standard that represents a service organization has been through an in-depth audit of their internal control objectives and activities. This often includes areas such as information technology and other related processes. A Type I report contains a description of the controls that are placed in operation. A Type II report includes this same information, as well as an evaluation of the effectiveness of the organization’s controls during a specified period of time.
“We are proud to have completed the SAS 70 Type II audit,” said MedRisk CEO Shelley Boyce. “This rigorous examination provides our customers with assurance that MedRisk’s operational processes continue to be effective and adhere to the highest standards of excellence.”
In addition to obtaining the SAS 70 examination, MedRisk is fully accredited under the URAC Workers’ Compensation Utilization Management Program, as well as the HIPAA Privacy and Security programs.
