CA DWC’s Pharmaceutical Pricing Calculator & Data Affected by Error in Database

June 9, 2011 - WorkCompWire

The Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC), in cooperation with the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) and the Medi-Cal Fiscal Intermediary Hewlett-Packard Enterprise Services, is working to correct a database error which inadvertently removed many bulk ingredient national drug codes (NDCs) from the pricing calculator and data download file on the DWC Web site.

In March 2011, in response to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services release number 155, News For State Medicaid Directors, the DHCS issued an operation instruction letter that initiated the modification of the Medi-Cal claims system. The modification inadvertently dropped some bulk ingredient NDC codes from the database file. The NDC codes that were inadvertently removed are bulk ingredient codes, thus the missing data affects NDCs used in compounded medications.

The DWC will post the corrected data file on the pharmaceutical fee schedule Web page as soon as it is received. Interested members of the public will be able to access the DWC’s updated pharmaceutical fee schedule Web page at: http://www.dir.ca.gov/dwc/pharmfeesched/pfs.asp.
