ATLANTA /PRNewswire/ — Crawford & Company (NYSE: CRDA; CRDB), the world’s largest independent provider of claims management solutions, has promoted two members of its legal department to serve in the newly created positions of associate general counsel for the Company.
Tami E. Stevenson, general counsel of Broadspire, a Crawford Company and third party administrator of workers compensation claims, has been named vice president and associate general counsel – operations. She will continue in her current role and will add responsibilities for the operation and administration of the law department in support of Allen W. Nelson, general counsel, corporate secretary and chief administrative officer for Crawford. R. Eric Powers III has been named vice president, associate general counsel – corporate and assistant corporate secretary. He will continue with his current responsibilities for corporate legal matters.
Both promotions are officer-level appointments and were recently confirmed by the Company’s Board of Directors. “Tami and Eric have made significant contributions to the successful management and resolution of a wide variety of legal issues for Crawford and Broadspire,” Nelson said. “These promotions recognize those contributions and our expectations for a similar level of achievement on behalf of the Company in their new positions.”
Stevenson has served as corporate legal counsel for Broadspire since 1997 and was named general counsel of the organization in 2007. In that role, she manages the legal issues for corporate licensing and compliance, customer and vendor contracts, and acquisitions and divestitures, among other responsibilities.
Prior to joining Broadspire, Stevenson was senior counsel for Substance Abuse Technologies Inc. and corporate counsel for Gulf Atlantic Management Group Inc. She also was a staff sergeant and avionics technician in the U.S. Air Force Reserve for six years, graduating with honors from the Air Force Technical Training School and receiving an Outstanding Achievement Medal during her service.
Stevenson earned a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Florida and a juris doctor from St. Thomas University School of Law. She is a member of The Florida Bar.
Powers has served as assistant vice president, corporate counsel and assistant corporate secretary at Crawford since 2005. He has a wide range of corporate legal responsibilities at the Company, including securities, mergers and acquisitions, finance, tax, real estate, ERISA and executive compensation issues and management of the contracts department.
Previously, Powers was an associate at Troutman Sanders LLP and Capell & Howard P.C. He received a bachelor’s degree from Auburn University, a juris doctor from the University of Alabama School of Law, and a master of laws degree from the New York University School of Law. Powers is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and the Alabama State Bar.
