Confidence Dips…

April 3, 2011 - WorkCompWire

Today’s edition of WorkCompRecap features new results released by the SFN group from their March update of the SFN Group Employee Confidence Index, which now stands at 51.4 after a decrease of 2.2 points last month. The index measures both worker confidence in their personal employment situation and their optimism about the economy, and in March revealed a dip in overall confidence among workers, specifically in regard to confidence in the strength of the economy.

Also released was a statement from Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis on the results of the Department of Labor’s Employment numbers for March. In her statement Secretary Solis seemed more optimistic than the workforce in the survey, as she shared that the unemployment rate had declined to 8.8 percent (a decrease of 0.1 point vs February). Solis primarily focused on the cumulative progress that has been made over the last year, highlighting that since February of 2010, 1.8 million private sector jobs had been added.
