Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features Workers’ Compensation legislative developments coming out of Montana, where Governor Brian Schweitzer’s administration has said that it will support a deal with Republicans to cut Workers’ Compensation rates in the state. The compromise represents a significant development for both sides, which have been at odds on more issues than they’ve seen eye to eye on.
The Senate was informed by Labor Commissioner Keith Kelly that the Governor would support the measure after some negotiated changes were attached, with the compromise having been finalized Tuesday night. Republican Senator Ryan Zinke, who assisted in the negotiation of the bill, shared that he thought the Bill could reach the Senate floor by Saturday, and with house concurrence, they hope to have the bill ready for Governor Schweitzer’s signature by the end of the month.
